Cromford Canal
The Picture the Past photo library contains many photos of Cromford Canal, its bridges, locks and buildings. The canal was built in the eighteenth century, it served as a vital industrial transport link for the movement of coal, lead, and iron ore. Cromford Canal was acquired by Derbyshire County Council in 1974. There have been several attempts to restore the canal and parts of its towpaths are now popular walking locations for locals and tourist.
