Description: Although the identities of the people involved in this wedding party have not been established, the bride and groom appear to be one and the same as those in PTPD004687 and the back yard or garden location may well be the same as well. Some of the individuals depicted in this view also appear in PTPD004684.
As acquired the original prints were accompanied by a letter from 'Kath' of 126 High Lane West, West Hallam, Derby and addressed to Miss M Goodwin, Kelstedge Farm, Ashover, Nr Chesterfield and dated 26 October [1949]. This read:
'Dear Marian, At long last I have received my wedding photographs so I am sending you one of the group as you asked me. I ordered the smallest size I could but even that was 7s.9d [39p]. Anyway I am very pleased with them and they'll be so nice to look at when 'we are old and grey!'. Well Marian how is life treating you all up there? Give my love to your mother won't you? We were up at North Britton the other week. I did enjoy it. I like to get back and see them all even if its only for a day. We managed to carry a few blackberries back without squashing them too much. My grandma and Dad are keeping alright. I don't know if you know but we are living down there and I feel a lot happier about it. Well I don't seem to have much news and its time I started work but I wanted to get the photo away so I'll say Cheerio for now. Love from Kath'.
It is thought this is the 'group' photo mentioned. Can anyone shed any light on the identities of any of the people shown?
