Description: Looking north along Hayfield Road with the 'Crown & Mitre' public house to the right and South Head in the distance. The photographer is standing beneath the bridge carrying the Midland Railway's route from Derby and Sheffield to Manchester. This bridge had been widened around 1902-03 to accommodate additional tracks in connection with remodelling of the line in the vicinity of Chinley so as to increase capacity.
