Description: A crowd of villagers gathered at the church gate to welcome Mr & Mrs Norman Thomson after their wedding in St Michael's Church, Taddington. Presumably the horse drawn carriage in the foreground was the bridle carriage. The union flag in the tree and the garlanded lamp post were indicative of the bunting which decorated the village street. Streamers were strung from house to house, across the roadway and small union flags in profusion were on the rooftops. Three policemen, under D. Sgt. Kendal handled the traffic. It is thought that P S Kendal is standing under the tree. The policeman in the centre of the throng in the church gates is PC Francis Hallam whose beat covered Topley Pike, Blackwell Priestcliffe, Brushfield, Brushfield Hough, Taddington, Flagg, Monyash and Chelmorton.
