John Gothard b. c. 1807, Derbyshire, son of John and Jemima Gothard. In 1841 he was a Cotton Lace Maker in New Brampton. In 1851 he was the Railway Station Master at Brampton In 1861 he was an Innkeeper and Coal Merchant at Low Pavement, Chesterfield. In 1871 he was at Gladstone Rd., Newbold and Dunston, and still here at the age of 84 in 1891. He had three sons who followed him into the Coal Merchant trade, one at St. Pancras, one at Hornsey, Middlesex and one at Aston, Warwicks. His daughter married a Henry Richardson, Chemist and Druggist of Chesterfield. (Information kindly supplied by Mavis Johnson)
