Description: The Jacobean house is on the corner to left.
This is Derbys finest example of a Jacobean house. It was most likely built in 1611. It was once much larger, having five gables until in 1855 when the Victorians drove Becket Street through the house. In the 20th century it was the Jacobean Cafe. In 1960 the shopkeeper lowered the ground floor windows. Today it is occupied by 'The Haus' bar. There are a reported 14 ghosts in Jacobean House, supposedly making the building one of the most haunted within the city of Derby.
