Description: Looking north-east with Lin Dale in the background. The signage to the rear of the Edwardian 'trippers' advertises the Izaak Walton Hotel, described as 'Family and Residential' and just '5 minutes walk' away towards of the village of Ilam. In addition to those visitors making use of the stepping stones to cross the River Dove, another group reposes in the lee of the rocks on the right, while a small handcart can be seen where the path continues up the valley. This latter was probably associated with the donkeys that provided a mode of transport for visitors to Dovedale at this period (see DCHQ010278).
