Description: A bicycle decorated with flowers and at least four Union Jack flags. The occasion is believed to have been one of the annual Ilkeston Flower Shows, staged in this case at the original Manor Football Ground on Manor Road. The significance of the decoration is unclear as the bicycle cannot be ridden and the saddle is occupied by a manikin, while the man standing nearest the camera is wearing an ornate gown. The view is looking north-east with the original stand on the north side of the ground in the background. At this date the Manor Ground was home to Ilkeston United, who arrived in 1901 and remained there until the club folded in 1932. See also DCCS000208.
