Description: Leslie Beresford, aged about 12 in this photo, born in 1931 and died in 1976 at the age of 45. He was born and lived in Somercotes, then moved to Langley Mill when he married Nancy Marks of Riddings. He played the piano accordion at a young age entertaining drinkers in the Tiger public house in Somercotes. As an older teenager he played in a dance band together with Ron Saint and a number of other local musicians. As an adult he went on to play the electric organ in various local clubs such as Codnor Miners Welfare, Horsley Woodhouse Working Mens Club, The Red Lion Hotel, Wirksworth, The Devonshire Arms, Oakerthorpe. He read music and accompanied singers who at that time brought their own sheet music which my father read from to accompany them. He also played for dancing.
