Description: The accompanying text reads:
'This beautiful place of popular resort has, until now, been without a Wesleyan Chapel; the nearest Chapels are those of Cromford and Matlock Bridge, each more than a mile distant. The Wesleyans resident at the Bath have long felt the need of a place of worship, not only for the accomodation of themselves and families, but also of the numerous visitors who, during the season from early sprint to the close of autumn, make this delightful locality their temporary residence. Encouraged by the offer of a grant and loan from the Chapel Committee, the friends upon the spot made a vigorous effort to secure the much needed and desired sanctuary.
The Chapel rises at the base of what are called The Heights of Abraham and is some two or three hundred yards from the Bridge which spans the River Derwent, as the town is approched from the Matlock Bath Railway Station.
