Description: Having studied this lump of stone outside St.Mary's church, one contributor to the website is convinced that it is in fact the remains of the medieval font and not as has been suggested, the base of the old market cross. The reasoning for believing it to be the old font are that the font which now stands in St.Mary's was made in the 1850s and was said to be a copy of the medieval original.
