Description: Hansom Cabs outside Grindleford Railway Station. The message on the back of the postcard reads, 'Weds 15 02 05; Very uncomfortable day today, roads all soft and splashy.' Arab Series of postcards published by LBMS. The Totley railway tunnel running from Totley in Sheffield to Grindleford is a remarkable feat of engineering. The tunnel is over three and a half miles long and runs beneath Totley Moor. Work on it began in 1888 and despite many problems it was completed 5 years later. It changed the fortunes of Grindleford Village and still brings many walkers and tourists into Grindleford today.
