Description: This group portrait was photographed close to the farm buildings. Mrs Spicer (who will shortly discover that she has a dirty hem!) lived at the farm. On the right her companion is a neighbour, Mrs Thickitt. The dark faces and legs of the sheep show them to be of the shortwool type, whilst the pattern of hair on the face suggests they belong to one of the Down (i.e. lowland) breeds. Note how relaxed the sheep are so close to the terrier (who is Mrs Thickitt's dog). Text supplied by donor; Mr John Thickitt.
