Description: Further up the village street westwards from 26. The building behind the wall on the left was the home of the Mettam family, which housed the post office. During the First World War, a daily war report was phoned through to Taddington and then relayed through to neighbouring sub post offices. The end terrace house on the right (beyond second coalhouse) was built on bedrock without foundations. A diagonal cellar was hewn out under the front room and used as a pantry.
