Description: This is of Orlando Hambleton who died in 1945 aged 78 years. He was shoemaker specialising in the clogs worn by the villagers of the time and is shown here standing on the steps of The Nook, a cottage which he used as his workshop. The cottage was later lived in by one of his daughters, Mrs Statham, who sold paraffin from there. It has since been extended as a dwelling. Orlando was a steward and organist at the nearby Wesleyan chapel. He owned much of the surrounding property. His two brothers, who left the village, were also organists at their places of worship.
