Description: A typical scene on a Whit Tuesday morning, the whole day being given over to celebrate the Club Feast day of the two village lodges of The Manchester Unity of Oddfellows. This photograph was probably taken after the church service where the members would assemble outside the church gates preparatory to marching off. The Adventurers of the Peak Lodge would proceed down the street to the George Hotel, while the Perseverance Lodge met in The Star on the left. The first building was their clubroom. This public house was one of the first three homes to have electric light installed when the supply was connected to the village in 1931. The lamp on the extreme left was lit by paraffin. The Club Feast ended in 1932 when the Perseverance Lodge amalgamated with The Adventurers.
