The Recreation Room was a former shippon, donated by Mr Samuel Bramwell J.P of Taddington Hall, as a place where men could congregate every evening except Good Friday and Christmas Day to play billiards, dominoes etc, and read the newspapers, without having to patronise the local pubs. Needless to say, the sale of alcohol on the premises was forbidden. The inaugural meeting was held on 10th October 1907.
