Description: View of some dwellings at Town End, Taddington. The east end of the village was by-passed when a shorter route with a wider roadway was constructed at the time of the 1810 Ashford to Buxton Turnpike Road was made. Town End House on the left was used in 1985 by the Children's Film Unit for a period production, being regarded as an unspoilt gem. Note the cheese press stone at the end of the wall. The house on the right belonged to Mr John Braddock, who constructed a windmill on land to the rear. It blew down, but made the O.S. map! The house is also notable for having a double-seater privy.
