Description: The building on the left - known locally as 'the ochell' was built as an intergal part of the Watchorn Park and designed to accommodate the elderly workers from the area, mostly ex-miners from the Morwoods Colliery. The building in the middle was a cottage lived in up to the 1960's by old Fred Shipley, a well known and respected shot and naturalist. His son Fred, together with his sons, yet another Fred and Michael, lived in the first Watchorn cottage past the entrance to Queen's Head Yard. Both old Fred and his son were good shots and preferred a 16 bore to the normal 12. In later life Fred Snr. used a 20 bore, known as 'The Lady's Gun', to great effect. The 'Ochell' was also dubbed, by the disrespectful youth, "Sammy Davis' Waiting Room". Sammy Davis' workshop stood opposite (to the North of) the Devonshire Arms on King Street. He was the local undertaker.
The building on the left still stands as a shelter, the middle one has been demolished and the one on the right was the Trent Bus Garage which is still in use but not by the bus company.
