Description: The house probably has its origins as a park ranger's lodge in medieval times and it has clearly been rebuilt in the late 17th century. The building is a two storey brick, rising from a stone plinth (part of which contains a basement), with stone quoins, window surrounds with straight dripstones, copings and ornamental balls. Probably an original home for the Revell family in the 16th century. Taken from A History of Shirland & Higham by Gladwyn Turbutt, published 1978.
