Description:
This shows a narrowboat heading up stream on the Trent & Mersey Canal at the river Trent crossing between Wychnor and Alrewas in Staffordshire. This length of the canal was partly constructed in the former Wychnor Mill stream which the boat is just leaving. The wooden barrier beyond the boat was provided to prevent craft inadvertently going over the weir and being carried down the unnavigable river towards Burton. The towpath is on the left and some distance behind the camera is the long towpath bridge under which the river enters the canal's course. The date is around the end of the 1960s or early 1970s.
