Description: Front view of the exterior, Palace Hotel, Buxton, c 1904-1909. The Palace Hotel was built in c 1868 by H Currey, who also constructed the Natural and Thermal Baths and the Pump Room and opened on 6th June 1868. It served the many visitors to Buxton Spa, and is situated near to the railway station for their convenience. It remained open until 1949, when it was commodered and re-opened in August 1947. The hotel closed for 6 weeks in 1978, due to breach of fire regulations and subsequently was closed shortly afterwards. It was later renovated in 1996.
