Description: Pevsner says of St Giles' Church 'the interest of the church is the Norman S[outh] doorway (one order of colonettes, capitals with leaves, arch with zigzag on intrados and extrados). The late Perp S window should also be noted in which all curved forms of Gothic arches have gone straight. W tower Perp (diagonal buttresses, battlements, pinnacles). (N aisle and vestry added in 1895 by J M Brooks, son of James Brooks. R. Dixon(?)). Stained Glass: 15th century Virgin in a Chancel S window, Chancel E window by Warrington, 1845. Plate: Elizabethan Chalice.' The base and pillar of the cross shown here are Saxon, but the celtic style top was added in the late 1880's to replace the lost original.
