Description: The Railway Servants' Orphanage, known as St Christopher's Home for the Children of the Railwaymen, was constructed by A A Langley (Midland Railway Architect) in 1887. It closed in 1993. When this picture was taken Joseph Peach was Boy's Warden and P E teacher. The message 'Be strong and of good courage' is on the wall (far left). University student accommodation is now on this site.
