Description: The view is looking from Kings Mills, Castle Donington, upstream across the River Trent towards the church tower of Weston on Trent. The wood and fields to the left of the river are part of the Donington Park Estate. Note the lock gates on the right. These would have allowed the passage of boats past the weir on the left. The river on the left was channelled through a millstream to power a water wheel (out of view) and mill machinery. The original watermill is mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book. Parts of the Mill and buildings are now The Priest House Hotel and the river here is popular with canoers. The woods on the left are now accessible to the public.
