Description: Pictured are a group of workers in the factory - back row, left to right, are Charlie Bolton, Roy (?), Jack Bentley and Jack Morton. On the front row are Frank (?), four unnamed workers, then Bill Ashworth and Frank Marshall. EW Bliss Works was formerly the Haslam Foundry and Engineering Company's Union Foundry. Haslam's Foundry was established in 1865 by Alfred Haslam, whose father William was a whitesmith and bellhanger. The American-founded firm, E W Bliss (England) Ltd manufactured tins and cans, and later hydraulic presses. They come to England in 1906, and moved to Derby in the 1930's.
