Description: The Pye Bridge - Ambergate line closed in 1968. (Butterley Station and part of the line is now used by The Midland Railway Trust and is open to the public offering locomotive rides on its Steam trains.)
This combination of railway vehicles' was known as an 'engine and brake'(i.e. an engine and a brake van only). Interestingly, the people on the verandah of, and beside, the brake (which would not ordinarily carry passengers') are not dressed as railway employees.
