Description: Ilkeston Junction was an ex Midland Railway Derbyshire station (The station was actually just a few yards over the River Erewash border in Nottinghamshire!). It closed in 1967, and was on the Nottingham to Sheffield main line. The main line is on the right showing the small station and platform. On the left is the branch line which led to the more central Ilkeston Town station. (This had closed at the time of this picture, and was located roughly where the new Tesco's supermarket stands today). This photograph is looking north at the box iron bridge which carries Coronation Road between Ilkeston and Awsworth. The old strap girder railway viaduct near Bennerley can just be seen in the distance.
