Description: The Trent and Mersey Canal runs between the River Mersey, near Runcorn and the River Trent in Derbyshire, and is just over ninety miles long. It is one of the earliest canals built by Brindley (1766), and is well known for its tunnels, at Harecastle, Barnton, Saltersford and Preston Brook. The construction of the canal enables Josiah Wedgewood to transport his wares from the Potteries to the coast.
