Description: A view looking south-eastwards from Cowms Moor down the Woodlands Valley. The River Ashop is in the valley bottom, flowing eastwards towards its confluence with the Derwent at Ashopton (a location later to be submerged beneath Ladybower Reservoir). The northen slopes of Ashop Moor form the skyline.
The sheep are being driven along the Snake Road (the A57), which links Sheffield and Manchester via the Snake Pass and Glossop. A short distance behind the photographer are the buildings of Upper House Farm, possibly the venue for the shearing of this flock.
