Description: Looking from the tower of St Mary's Church, showing the Town Hall, Co-operative building, old police station and the distinctive copper spire of the Congregational Church. Beyond this in the distance is West Hallam Storage Depot. Just visible immediately behind the Town hall roof is old outdoor public swimming baths, (now demolished), with its shed-like changing rooms and wire baskets for clothes (and remembered by many for its freezing cold water, and cold, windy location right at the top of the hill!). The photographer has used a telephoto lens which has had the usual telephoto effect of foreshortening the scene and making things which are far away in the distance seem much closer than they actually are.
