Description: Located on the northern side of the road, viewed from the south-west. The cottage belonged at this time to Mr and Mrs Hartley. Behind the hedge is an apple cellar, which was later used as an air-raid shelter during the Second World War. The stile gave access to a private footpath which local coal miners paid to use. It's address was no 103(?) High Lane West. The farm was demolished in November 1978. Compare this picture to DCER000221 and DCER000223
