Description: Viewed from the west - Site in Lower Market Place. Built in 1887-8 on the site of the former Anchor Inn, the architect was George Haslam of Ilkeston. The building was officially opened on 31 May 1888, and was closed as a Liberal Club in December 1955. The building was demolished in the winter of 1960-1. The site was subsequently used for a Kwiksave Supermarket, then later, Weatherspoon's 'Observatory' public house. Taken for the 'Views of Ilkeston' Series.
