Description: Copy of a print believed to have been taken by or to have been in the possession of local historian the late Peter Stevenson. It shows Langley Mill Basin, terminus of the Erewash Canal and is looking south-east from the canal head towards the junction with the main line of the canal which continued to the left in order to join the Cromford and Nottingham Canals. Derby Road is also visible on the left, the white building being the Great Northern public house, with Eastwood Church on the skyline. The poles lining the road look to be relics of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire trolleybus system linking Nottingham with Eastwood, Heanor, Ilkeston and Ripley and in operation from 1932 to 1953.
The canal basin was later filled in and built over. In 2014 the site was occupied by Enterprise Way and the Access 26 Business Park.
