Description: The junction at Trent Lock of the Erewash Canal with the River Trent looking south with Red Hill and Tatcliffe-on-Soar Power Station in the background. Trent Lock itself is immediately behind the photographer.
As is evidenced by the road style signposting seen here, Trent Lock is a sort of canal cross-roads where the Erewash Canal and the Soar Navigation connect with the River Trent by means of the Cranfleet Cut downstream, and the Trent and Mersey Canal via the Trent and the Sawley Cut upstream, both cuts avoiding non-navigable stretches of the river.
