Description: Pinxton Wharf looking south-west with The Boat Inn (advertising Shipstone's Ales) on the left. The wharf was the terminus of a short branch (sometimes known as the Pinxton Canal) of the Cromford Canal (the main line of which ran from Langley Mill to Cromford) from Ironville and was long-disused by the time this view was taken. The tandem headstocks in the right distance formed part of the Pinxton Collieries complex.
