Description: Although quite badly damaged in part, this elevated view over the northern part of Ilkeston provides a wealth of detail. The photographer has climbed the tower of St Mary's Church in the Market Place and is looking north. Bath Street, lined with shops and then the town's main thoroughfare, dominates the scene and can be followed out towards Cotmanhay. To the right the lace and hosiery factory of H. Carrier & Sons is prominent, while further down and on the opposite side of the road is the spire of Bath Street Wesleyan Chapel. Both the factory and the chapel have since been demolished.
