Description: The description on the back of this photograph says that it is the Cupola working platform of Staveley's Sand Spun Plant, but the photograph is the same as DCCD000071, but from a different angle.
One of our visitors comments: "As far as I am aware the cell rooms where chlorine would have been produced were always on the Devonshire Works to the North of the River Rother and towards the east / north east of the Staveley Works Site. I therefore doubt if this scene is near the Sand Spun Plant (I worked on a SS Plant for about 8 weeks as a vac student in about 1974)" - Chris Bower.
Another website contributor, Stuart Ash, relates the following "The Chlorine Plant was on the Devonshire Works located at the Soda Plant. The manager of the plant was Charles Drake. Approximately 50 cylinders and 10 large drums of liquid chlorine were despatched from here every day".
