Description: This picture was taken at the Congregational Church Hall on Chatsworth Road, Brampton. The smartly turned out group includes Joe Scatcherd - standing third from the left on the third row - who presented the picture for inclusion in Chesterfield Library's collection of historic photos. Mr Scatcherd recalled most of the names of the people portrayed, some of whom became notable Derbyshire figures. These included Philip Robinson, pictured on the left at the back, wearing a black bowler hat - he later became head of Robinson and Sons, manufacturers of health care products and at one time Chesterfield's largest industrial employer. Also in the shot is Mr C Sargeant (seventh from the left on the third row), whose wife, Cissie, became Mayor of Chesterfield. Two of the officers, Percy Todd (siting third from the right on the second row) and Jim Stanyard (sitting fourth from the left on the second row) also ran a gymnasium at the Church Hall which Mr Scatcherd attended.
