Description: Looking east showing the terrace of cottages known as Steam Mill Row flooded by the River Hipper, which ran in a channel between the yard fronting the houses and Chatsworth Road (off picture to the left - see image DCCC003810). Brampton Congregational Chapel is in the background. The site was later occupied by the G Kenning (GK Group) motor garage with the river culverted under the forecourt.
The individual seated in the chair with his trousers rolled up is George Ling. Families resident here at the time of these floods included the Lings family (at number 6), the Stanyards (number 7), the Burns's (number 8), and another Burns's family (number 9).
