Description: A view of the landsale yard on Cromford Road (then the A610) looking east. The yard was served by a single siding (right) parallel with the National Coal Board worked railway line that linked Moor Green Colliery (and earlier other pits such as Plumptre, Selston, Brinsley, High Park and (New) Watnall) with the Erewash Valley main line north of Langley Mill station. The wooden-bodied wagons on the right (painted black with yellow ironwork) were NCB 'internal user' vehicles used solely for bringing coal down from the mine to the yard, from where it would be sold directly to local coal merchants and other users. The weighbridge and office can be seen on the extreme left, while the yard hut carries a blue enamelled 'Approved Coal Merchant' sign. In the distance a shovel is working the coal stocks area with what looks like a coal merchant's lorry alongside.
Moor Green Colliery closed in 1985 and by 2011 the site of the yard on Cromford Road was occupied by industrial units.
