Description: 'Barney Castle' was the local nickname for the building which used to be the toll house. Here used as a shop, telephone point and bus stop. Probably built in the 1700's and demolished in 1937. See also DCBR000058 for a wider view of the building. Showing Mrs Wright on the left with the small dog; the other woman is unknown. The picture is undated, but the style of clothes, bobbed hair and strap shoes suggests late 1920's to early 1930's.
