Description: Unlike the henge at Arbor Low, the Bull Ring has no stones around it, although according to early historians, they suggest that it did have stones at one time. Local tradition has it that the stones were used as sleepers for the Peak Forest Tramway, a crude early railway constructed in the 1790s to carry stone to the canal at Buxworth. Despite this loss the Bull Ring remains an impressive place, and walking around the bank with the roar of traffic on one side and the rumble of heavy earth-moving equipment from the quarry on the other side is a eerie experience.
