Description: The yard at the George Inn was used for theatrical performances in Elizabethan days. On the 4th December 1745 the rebel army of Bonnie Prince Charlie (The Young Pretender) arrived in Derby and demanded billets for 9,000 men at the George Inn. It was also the building in which Derby Co-op was formed. The pub has been renamed regularly and is currently Jorrocks. This picture shows the pub with a sign outside advertising 'well aired beds' in their lodgings.
