Description: A scene inside the Thermal Baths, otherwise known (according to this commercial postcard) as 'The Buxton Douche-Massage Baths' with a patient undergoing treatment. The medical attendant has a showerhead draped over his shoulder, while behind him is a shower cage. The glazed wall tiles provide some decorative relief.
A guide book of 1939-40 to Buxton and the surrounding area provides some further information: 'The establishment especially prides itself upon the institution of the bath to which the name of the town has been given - the Buxton Douche Massage Bath - said to be the finest of its kind in Europe. Every kind of douche is administered under conditions which allow the force and temperature to be regulated with the greatest accuracy.'
