Description: The Eagle Hotel, Buxton, 31 May 1934. The Eagle Hotel, possibly on the site of The Eagle and Child recorded in 1592. It was purchased by the 3rd Duke of Devonshire in 1746, and rebuilt by the 4th Duke in 1760. By the 1820's it was known as The Eagle.
