Description: The photograph shows Ewart Lane which branched off Derby Road opposite what eventually became the Abraham Lincoln Library building. At the bottom of Ewart Lane it joined-up with Wingfield Road on the left and Gooker Lane on the right. In later years the Peace Gardens of the Watchorn Memorial Park were planted out on the land to the right of this photo which bounded onto the north side of Ewart Lane, Gooker Lane and Derby Road. When the Robert Watchorn Peace Garden was eventually established, it's perimeter had wrought iron railings five feet high erected along the length of Gooker Lane, Ewart Lane and a low brick wall with brick pillars approximately every 10 feet along it's boundary with Derby Road. This photo was taken prior to 1933 before the Peace Gardens had been planned.
