Description:
Looking east down Chatsworth Road showing the highway inundated by the nearby River Hipper. The photographer is positioned between Factory Street and Hipper Street West with the spire of the Zion Methodist Chapel in the distance. The overhead wiring for the Chesterfield Corporation electric tramway system is also apparent - the complexity of the catenary in the middle distance is accounted for by the divergence of the lines leading into the tram depot which is out of sight to the right. The apparently stranded car was a Ford Model T belonging to a Mr Machin of Barlow.
