Description: This is a view of Alfreton House and it's grounds. Alfreton House which is now listed as a building of architectural or historical interest, was built during the commonwealth (1649-60), the period following the be-heading of Charles the 1st. At one time it was an Inn known as 'The Gate'. Later it became the home of the Rickards family until it was purchased by the Alfreton Urban District Council in 1950.
