Description: Opened in 1920, Ripley Victory Hall was originally a Cinema and Music Hall. It became the Co-op Bakery and in 1928 was converted into the Co-op Dairy. It closed in 1973 and was demolished in 1980. The site is now OAP flats. The track and overhead electrical supply of the Notts & Derby Electric Tramway, which connected Ripley with Nottingham via Heanor, Eastwood and Kimberley, are also apparent. This was in operation from 1913-14 until 1933.
This image was taken when it was a music hall. Situated on Broadway between Nottingham Road and Albion Street. (Additional information very kindly supplied by Ruth Sharpe).
Website contributor Janet Smith comments: 'I don't think the Victory Hall closed in 1973 as I had my wedding reception there in 1977'.
Can anyone say for definite what year the Hall closed?
